While at Cabin Creekwood, many of our guests enjoy hiking Crabtree Falls. Located about 1/2 hour away, Crabtree Falls is the highest vertical-drop cascading falls east of the Mississippi River, dropping a total of 1,200 feet. Total distance if you decide to go all the way to the end and back is about 6 miles, but you can enjoy the first set of falls by walking only a couple hundred yards.
Enjoy playing in the Tye River below the falls, but be sure to avoid climbing on the falls themselves. The rocks are extremely slippery, making it very dangerous.
The views are fabulous, and the drive to the falls is scenic as well. Crabtree Falls is located on Route 56, six miles east of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
