Lake Monocan Park is the ideal day destination for active families who enjoy being outdoors. There truly is something for everyone to do at this family friendly Wintergreen area attraction.
The 20 acre lake of course the center of attraction at the park. A lifeguard is on duty at the lake from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are sand beaches and picnic areas, complete with charcoal grills, allowing families to make a day of it at the lake. There are also lounge chairs for guests to use.
The full snack bar at Lake Monocan Park is perfect for those who do not wish to bring their own food. They serve burgers, hot dogs, pizza, drinks, candy, fruit and much more at reasonable rates.
For visitors who are looking to do more than swim in the warm water, there are canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats for rent. Canoes and kayaks cost $12 per hour and a paddleboat is $15 per hour. There are horseshoe pits and volleyball courts for visitors to use. Fishing is also permitted at the lake.
A two mile paved bike trail meanders through Lake Monocan Park. You can rent bikes, attachable bike buggies, and strollers to make the trail easier for little ones. Bike rentals are $10 per hour, strollers are $10 and bike with buggy rentals are $15 per hour.
Large parties are welcome to enjoy the lake as well as individual visitors. The Lake Monocan Clubhouse is ideal for company picnics, graduation and birthday parties, weddings and corporate events. The clubhouse can be rented for $75 per hour, with a four hour minimum. There are separate, but affordable, set up and cleanup fees.
Wintergreen resort guest and members have free access to the lake and its amenities. For the general public, affordable rates make it possible to use the lake and its resources. Adults can purchase a day lake access pass for $12, and children 6 to 12 cost $8. Children under 5 are free.
A more economical way to enjoy all Lake Monocan Park has to offer is to purchase a season pass. An adult season pass is $99 and children 6 to 12 cost $79 for the season.
