Winter is right around the corner, and with it, winter sports. Wintergreen Ski Resort, just three miles from Cabin Creekwood, has announced that opening day for skiing and riding will be Saturday, December 10. Of course, the weather plays a large part in that. If we have colder than normal weather, they would be able to open earlier. If the weather stays warm, it would be later. But that is the date they are planning to open for the 2011-12 skiing season.
Wintergreen Resort has more than skiing, however. The terrain park is excellent for honing your snowboarding skills, and for those not interested in speeding down a slippery hill on a skinny board, there is snow tubing to be enjoyed at the Plunge Tubing Park.
Also available is a zip line which allows you to scream down the hill at speeds approaching 40 miles per hour. And ice skating is available at Shamokin Ice.
There are plenty of things for the little ones to do, including the Treehouse and Ridgeley’s Fun Park.
For those not yet adept at winter sports, Wintergreen offers ski lessons with a guarantee–appropriately called Guaranteed Learn to Ski & Ride.
