Summer Update

What an enjoyable summer we have had.  As you may already know, summer is our busiest time of year at Cabin Creekwood.  Part of what makes summer so special to us is the opportunity to reconnect with friends that we have made at Cabin Creekwood who continue to return year after year.  That is not to say that guests who come other times of the year are not considered friends, but simply that the volume of people that come during the summer is much greater.   We have many guests who have been coming for ten, twelve, and even fifteen years!

Drive-In Theater

Did you ever want to take your kids to experience a drive-in theater, but not know where to find one?  Drive-ins are definitely few and far between.  We visited one recently in Lexington, about an hour south of here.  Hull's Drive-In Theater is a family oriented facility that may be the perfect thing for your next visit to Cabin Creekwood.  Movies are shown Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.  Tickets are $4/person, and that is for a double-feature if you can stay up late enough!  The first movie begins around 8:45 to 9:00, with the second immediately following.  You will definitely want to get there early.  When we went to see the movie "Cars," there was a 1/2 mile line waiting when the gates opened at 7:00!  We finally parked and walked in to sit with some friends who had arrived earlier than we had!

Fall Outlook

Fall is a popular time to come to Cabin Creekwood, especially during the fall foliage season.  Unfortunately, we have to turn many people away during that peak time, which is normally the middle two weeks of October.  Our weekends are already booked for those dates, but if you can squeeze a little time off work and school, we can still accommodate you during the week, Monday through Thursday night.

Before and after peak are also good times to come.  If I have to choose between those two, my preference is before.  That is when the primary color is still green and bright, but some of the early trees are bright yellow and red.  After peak, it tends to look more dead than bright.

Of course, September is a great time to enjoy the mountains as well.  Temperatures aren't as hot, so an evening fire either inside or in the firepit outside is a pleasant event.  In September, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sherando Lake, and local hiking trails tend not to have as many people, so finding a little peace and quiet in the outdoors is easier than ever!  If you would like to visit this September, give us a call or drop an email.  We still have a lot of options from which you can choose.
